Itinerary
Day 1: Tuesday, May 18, 2027: Departure
- Depart from the local airport, or with the group from Chicago O’Hare, Boston Logan, or the airport of your choice (if choosing the land only option).
Day 2: Wednesday, May 19: Arrival/Cambridge/Norwich
- Arrive in London and clear customs and immigration. Meet your driver and guide in the arrivals area and board your motorcoach and depart for Norwich (approx. 3.5 hours). Stop enroute at Cambridge to walk to King’s College for a tour and then to St. Benet’s Church, the oldest building in Cambridge. Then, time permitting, enjoy some free time for lunch. Later in the afternoon, reboard your coach and continue to Norwich and check into your local accommodation. If possible, attend Evening Prayer at St. Julian’s Church. Gather for a group welcome dinner.
Day 3: Thursday, May 20: Norwich
- After breakfast, spend the entirety of the day in Norwich, learning more about the life of the Christian Mystic, Julian of Norwich. In the evening, return to your accommodations for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Friday, May 21: Norwich/Walsingham
- Following breakfast, travel to Walsingham (approx. 1 hr.), to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. Attend Mass at the Shrine Church. Spend some quiet time at the Shrine, praying at the Shrine or in the Gardens. Later in the afternoon, return to Norwich. In the evening, enjoy a group dinner.
Day 5: Saturday, May 22: Norwich/King’s Lynn/Hampole
- Following breakfast, check out of your Norwich accommodation and board your coach for Hampole. En route, stop at King’s Lynn (approx. 1.5 hours). While there, learn more about the Christian Mystic, Margery Kempe, and visit Kings Lynn Minster, formerly known as St. Margaret’s Church. Continue to Hampole, to learn more about the hermit, mystic, and religious writer, Richard Rolle. Continue to Doncaster to check into your accommodation and have a group dinner.
Day 6: Sunday, May 23: Hampole/Peak District/Southwell
- After breakfast, board your coach for a drive through the Peak District. Enjoy the scenic ride through the area. Next, travel the short distance, through the Peak District, to Chatsworth House, famous for the 2005 Pride & Prejudice movie. Continue to Southwell Minster (passing through Sherwood Forest) to check into your accommodations.
Day 7: Monday, May 24: Southwell/Thurgarton
- Following breakfast, gather for a pilgrimage experience, as you walk from your hotel in Southwell to Thurgarton Priory (approx. 5 miles). The coach will be available to transfer anyone needing assistance or is not able to walk the distance. Upon arrival, visit the Priory Church of St Peter, delve into the life and writing of Walter Hilton, an Augustinian Canon who lived and served at the priory. In the afternoon, meet your motorcoach and return to Southwell for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Tuesday, May 25: Southwell/London
- Following breakfast, check out of your accommodations and load your motorcoach for London stopping at Beauvale Priory. Founded in 1343 as a Carthusian monastery, it is believed to be the source of the mystical text “The Cloud of Unknowing.” Continue to London. Upon arrival, enjoy a short panoramic coach tour of the city. Then, dive into the history of the Medieval Churches of London by visiting St. Bartholomew-the-Great, All Hallows-by-the-Tower, and the Temple Church. Check into your London area accommodations and enjoy a free evening. Dinner will be on your own, affording many choices for the evening.
Day 9: Wednesday, May 26: London
- Following breakfast, spend the entire day exploring London on your own. In the late afternoon, return to your hotel and transfer to a local restaurant (private room), for dinner, a celebration of your time together as pilgrims, and a closing prayer.
Day 10: Thursday, May 27: Return Home
- Following breakfast, transfer to London Heathrow Airport for your flight home.
